Serious game design
The client requested a serious game to be developed for a high school classroom consisting of adolescents aged 15 to 18. The game aimed to explore young men and women's perspectives on emancipation and stimulate a conversation about the challenges they face. The goal was to promote empathy among the players and reduce prejudice towards each other.
The game was designed by a group of 5 people and was called 'boxing the boxes'. It was tested with a group of around 30 participants, and a debrief session was conducted after the game. All visual game elements are designed by me, together with one other team member.
The client has since further developed the game and has named it 'talk that talk'. It is intended to facilitate conversations about (sexually) transgressive behaviour in high schools. The game can be accessed at https://talkthattalk.nl/. The further developed game design still utilizes the same game elements as the original game.
