Fairm

Design with Mycelium

During my internship, I worked for Fungalogic, which is now known as Fairm. This start-up was focused on exploring the potential uses of Mycelium materials in products. Since the material has acoustic properties, I decided to design a product that could enhance the acoustic atmosphere in an office or restaurant.

After extensive research on the material, I decided to create an acoustic lamp. I explored various types of fungi, substrates, and additives to determine the best combination to create the material. Throughout my research, I created numerous samples using different types of fungi such as Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum), oyster mushroom (Pleurotus Ostreatus), and polypore mushroom (Trametes Versicolor).
